The Charles Wallace India Trust could not have achieved anything without the help of a great many people and institutions, both in India and the UK. Partnership is in our DNA and we would like to thank all of them.
There are currently over 15 UK host institutions who offer valuable opportunities (fellowships and other types of residencies) to Indians working in the arts, heritage (conservation or museums) or across the humanities. These include some of the most important contemporary arts organisations, as well as libraries, archives and museums and renowned universities.
The British Council in India has been our main partner for almost four decades. The Council was a corporate trustee until a few years ago; although the nature of the relationship between CWIT and the British Council may have changed, we can still rely on the Council’s support. Every member of the CWIT alumni has been assisted with practical support and advice during the application and pre-departure processes, and the British Council also helps us with the disbursements of the Research grants.
Three organisations deserve a special mention as they have been our partners for many years: INTACH is our sister organisation promoting conservation across India; through our partnership with the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation we have been able to help many more Indian visuals artists to gain valuable experience of international working; thanks to the Simon Digby Memorial Charity in the UK, CWIT has been able to support the research of a conservation specialist from India, in recent years.
