Ruhi's story

Ruhi Jhunjhunwala is a cultural manager with extensive experience in the performing arts sector and expertise in festival management, programme design and international collaborations.

Over the last decade, Ruhi has worked in various capacities at international organisations like the Ranga Shankara Theatre and Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts (both in Bangalore, India), as well as The Performance Theatre Foundation (UK/Norway). Ruhi moved to London in 2017 to study MA in Performance and Culture Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London.

CWIT has enabled me not only to get a formal training in performance studies but also to immerse myself in London’s cultural landscape, which has enriched and expanded the scope of my practice

I was able to present papers at international conferences, co-author a chapter for a book on arts management, attend shows and exhibitions from around the globe and even be part of a performance presented at the Dance Umbrella festival!

The CWIT experience has been important because sometimes you learn more about yourself, both personally and professionally, by engaging with realities and contexts that are different than your own. Being in London made me step out of my comfort zone and reflect on my practice in a way that perhaps would never have been possible in India. The perspectives and insights offered by fellow students and colleagues, along with my own learnings as I navigated through new experiences, have deepened my understanding about the arts sector, and taught me the importance of critical thinking in our field of work.
