An alumnus of London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA/arthaus Berlin), Abhishek has received two grants from the Charles Wallace India Trust – for attending LISPA in 2005 and the International Playwright's Workshop at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 2011.

CWIT has enabled me to find out that I could pursue the greatest love of my life, the theatre. In fact, Richard Alford, the then Secretary of the Trust, even suggested the school I should apply to, since I had applied to a school which was about to shut down. I will always be grateful to him for that.

Since 2011 Abhishek says that his experiences in the UK have helped to shape a lot of his work. As well as learning about the theatre and the arts, Abhishek was left with a lot of questions and the understanding that this was going to be a way of life from then on. Above all, he started to understand and accept that there is no one way of making art and that context is critical to its method.

My experiences in the UK have helped to shape a lot of my work. I learnt how to learn.

Abhishek’s plays at the Royal Court include The Djinns of Eidgah (2013) and Pah-La in 2019.
